Update to
My Hero is Coming Home:
Jesse had been in Germany for only a few hours and had already been scheduled to return to the states by the weekend. The infection in his leg was getting worse, indicating that the heavy doses of antibiotics were not working. The professionals knew that for this type of cancer, chemotherapy needs to start immediately and because of a suppressed immune system, any infection is extremely serious. Being transported from Germany without treating the infected area on his upper leg would be the best course of action, therefore getting Jesse to Walter Reed as soon as possible was a necessity. At 3:45 a.m. Arizona time on Thursday, we were awakened by a call from Germany. They needed to remove the infection or face a possible amputation. They believed this need to be completed very quickly, so quickly that they had no time to irradiate the platelets his body would require to stop even the slightest hemorrhage. The area expected to be removed was thought to be the size of half a football.
By 6:00 a.m. Arizona time, his oncologist called with somewhat bittersweet news. The piece of muscle they needed to remove was much smaller then previously thought, but they were also able to do the biopsy that confirmed that his leukemia had returned. Last night, he arrived at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We are very grateful for his safe return to the United States. I will be joining him in the very near future.
As I have stated, I believe we have been mislead by this government controlled by a very powerful faction. I never was a believer in the invasion of Iraq and now, more then ever, I am convinced that our withdrawal from this poorly planned operation is long overdue. The U.S. presence in Iraq is becoming impossible to justify. It started as a search for WMDs, then a quest for regime change, then "fight them there vs. here," and now we need to stabilize democracy in the area. What's next? I could come up with many scenarios which I'm sure Condi Rice has already invented.
My future campaign isn't about my child; it's about everyone's children. We need to stand up against the extreme right-wing agenda that demands that hard-working, patriotic families continue to sacrifice while the wealthiest 1% of our population continues to profit. We are witnessing a corporate takeover of our government and it is time for change. I'm not interested in representing those big corporations and special interests. They have enough representatives in Washington already. I want to represent the working families that purchase this country's freedom with their children's lives. We must start now. I hope I can count on your support.
